Artichoke – Not only will artichokes slim you down but you also get to reap a  lot  of benefits.  It is low in fat  and carbohydrates  but loaded with folic acid, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phytonutrients and protein. Artichokes are also high with fiber, which makes a perfect combination for losing weight and is a premium for one’s digestive system as it absorbs water and creates bulk to move things along thereby easing the metabolism.

Eggs – Most of us think eggs will make fat. It’s true, though, that eggs have a lot of fat, but eaten in isolation, one whole egg at a time, whole eggs can be one of your best weight loss foods. Eaten in isolation, one whole egg increases the production of the hormone glucagons, which functions to increase blood sugar and in the process increases the body’s fat burning.

Eggs are also very rich in whey concentrate that aids in weight control and eventually weight loss.  Whey concentrate is high in cysteine which can increase the production of glutathione, and thus aids the body to combat oxidative stress. Less oxidative stress means healthier metabolism which means healthier weight.

Numerous studies demonstrated that those who eat at least 2 eggs per day can burn calories more easily and will handle cravings with ease.Eggs are high in nutrients and proteins that can provide boundless energy and will make you more active, thus making you burn more calories.  Worried about cholesterol? Recent studies show that eating an egg or two on regular basis won’t increase LDL cholesterol levels.

Sauerkraut or fermented cabbage has very high bacterial content that allows our digestive track work fabulously. It will boost the body’s  metabolism and calorie burning.

Beans – unknown to many, beans have a huge impact on our metabolism. Beans have significant amount of fibers that fills you up  easily which makes less nutritious and high-calorie foods less tempting. The soluble fiber content of beans also lowers the body’s cholesterol level. Not only will you lose those extra pounds but you will gain more, health-wise because beans are high in protein, complex carbohydrates, folate and iron. In addition, they are so rich in protein that can substitute for meat. Beans lower blood sugar making it ideal for potential diabetics. Beans also has a strong antibacterial effect.

Some go extreme by undergoing the bean diet, but you can easily add beans as garnish and ingredients to your everyday meals.

Potatoes  – contrary to popular beliefs, potatoes are not dietary villains. The starch in them will actually make you eat less. This special type of starch  can resist digestive enzymes, making them stay in the intestines longer, delaying the feeling of hunger. Of course, it’s something else if these potatoes are deep-fried in vats of oil. Try baked potatoes or potato salad with vinegar dressing.

Grapefruit – In a recent study  at the clinic in San Diego, people who ate half a grapefruit with each meal  lost an average of 3.6 pounds in three months.  Grapefruits are said  to lower post-meals level of insulin which then regulates the blood sugar and fat metabolism.
