New Year is just around the corner, so to speak. A lot of people are now preparing their new year’s resolution. If you are like 45% of Filipino smokers, kicking your smoking habit top your list of resolutions according to a 2009 survey.
Unfortunately, most of those who resolved to kick the habit failed because quitting smoking is not easy.
Why is it hard to quit smoking?
The culprit is nicotine. It is very addictive. When it reaches the brain, our brain will release chemicals that will make us feel good. However, the “nicotine high” is short-lived. You will have to smoke more cigarettes to get high again. Soon you will develop a high tolerance for nicotine. Hence, you are now a cigarette addict.
Anne Penman Laser Therapy (APLT)
Anne Penman, who is based in Glasgow in Scotland, is an expert in smoking cessation through laser therapy. Her method uses a cold red beam of light which is applied to specific energy points on the ears, nose, hands and wrists. This will help stimulate the release of endorphins which relieves discomfort and stress when giving up smoking.
The Anne Penman laser therapy is combined with guidance, continued individual support and motivation.
Good news for Filipino smokers who want to stop smoking, APLT in now in Manila. Mack Macasaet-Benauro, a certified laser therapist of APLT Manila whose mission is to help people quit smoking to become healthy, opened her laser therapy business in Manila a year ago.
Frank, one of Mack’s clients, flew in from Indonesia when he learned that there is an APLT clinic in Manila. He said although he had reservations that it would work he was willing to try the laser treatment to help him quit smoking.
Frank is a certified cigarette addict. He had been puffing up to 60 sticks of cigarettes a day for 30 long years.
Just three days after his first laser therapy session, the level of carbon monoxide in his lungs and blood stream get to the level corresponding to that of a non-smoker.
A woman from Romblon whose Austrian husband had a successful laser treatment to quit smoking years ago in Austria was delighted to learn that APLT is now in Manila. He strongly believed that if it worked for him, it would work for his Filipino wife as well. It did.
Both clients are smoke-free six months after their treatment.
