Oil Pulling Method
Oil pulling is a traditional Indian remedy known as kavala or gundusha that has been used for centuries to maintain good oral health. The process involves swishing a tablespoon of oil around your mouth. It is believed to help remove toxins from your body, leaving you healthier and revitalized. All it requires is a bottle of coconut oil and 10-20 minutes of your time.
The Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine recently highlighted a study that reviewed holistic approaches to oral health and discovered that oil pulling is one of the most effective natural health solutions that prevent tooth decay and loss.
Make sure to do it first thing in the morning right after you get out of bed, before you brush your teeth or drink anything.
Gently swish 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil in your mouth, between your teeth and your gums for a good 10-20 minutes.
Spit out the oil and rinse your mouth out thoroughly with warm water. It’s important to spit out the oil when it starts to feel thick. This usually takes somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes, and certainly no longer than 20.
Warning: Do not swallow the oil, because it is full of bacteria.
