People, most of the time, fear being under the heat of the sun especially in a tropical country like the Philippines.

What most people don’t know is that sunlight has many beautiful things to offer, which is often clouded by all the risks one can get from extreme exposure to the sun. There’s skin c4nc3r or harmful ultra violet radiation.

Yes, it has been stated in numerous studies that too much exposure is harmful but our body isn’t asking for too much. It only needs some time in the morning to feel the sun.

Here are some of the benefits sunlight can give:

Sunlight prevents Vitamin D deficiency. Sunlight, as what elders always say and according to studies, nourishes the body with vitamin D which is also known as the “sunshine vitamin.”

It heals skin disorders. Sunlight can actually help treat serious skin disorders, such as psoriasis, acne, eczema, and other fungal infections.

Experts say that the sun’s rays helps disinfect wounds and heal your skin by attracting immune cells to the skin surface.

It kills bad bacteria. Ever wonder why in the Philippine household setting, part of our general cleaning habits is exposing our pillows under the heat of the sun?

Well, it’s not just to dry them but because sun’s rays kills germs and bad bacteria. It goes the same with opening the windows in the bedroom to let sunshine in.

Sunshine lowers blood pressure.Indeed our body doesn’t ask too much as it is believed that even minimal exposure to the sun can help lower your blood pressure, which also lowers risk of getting a heart attack, kidney disease, or stroke.

It boosts the immune system and helps oxygen circulation. Researchers say that sunshine stimulates the body’s production of white blood cells that may result to stronger immunity against sickness and infections.

Aside from exercising, sunlight also helps the body deliver more oxygen content to the blood.

It improves your mood. If you’re having a bad day just take time to step outside and get some sunshine as it increases levels of serotonin which help promote feelings of happiness.

It is advisable to catch sunlight for 10 to 15 minutes a day.

Sunlight improves sleep.Sunlight exposure every morning, according to research, is linked to better sleep and health as the body will then adapt to a healthy sleep-wake cycle that allows you to get better quality sleep at night.
