Do you usually sit all day at work?
If yes, it’s about time to stand up and start moving to keep your body in shape!
It may be necessary and much easier for you to complete your tasks while sitting at your desk most of the time. However, a report from New York Post confirmed that sitting for too long can actually ruin your figure.
Physical therapist Abby Bales who works at Spear Physical Therapy in New York City confirmed that sitting on your bu
tt all day flattens it. She said the term “office a$s” refers to those who love to stay seated for eight hours resulting to a flatter and weaker butt.
“The more you sit, the more you have the chance of developing a flatter
bo0ty,” said Bales.
Not only does sitting develop bad posture, it also prevents necessary blood flow and decreases muscle mass.
According to Bales, people who does this position for too long may find a hard time engaging their glut
es which are necessary to strengthen and shape their bottom. They are also prone to other health conditions such as s trok e, depr ession, and cardiac arr est.
“So the first line of defense is to stand up more,” Bales suggested. “Standing instead of sitting increases your hip extension, and walking around improves your hip extension and flexion,” she also added.
If you are working a desk job, stand up or take a walk for five minutes after an hour of sitting to keep your muscles moving.
If you don’t have the time to get up, walk around, or do squats every hour, try to sit up straight or place a cushion under the back half of your chair to lessen the pressure on your bottom.
Walking to work also helps if you want to achieve that pretty-looking butt.
