A 29-year-old single mother took her failed marriage as a crucial piece to a success story she can always be proud of.

Four years ago, Melanie Arnold-Stemm was a 25-year-old overweight, unhappy married woman, who was consumed with negativity and low self-esteem. But one day, she came to realize that she can no longer deal with it. She ended her marriage and took the uneasy road to transform herself.

“I knew my life needed a complete overhaul. It had been a few years of a very low marriage and a lot of things I went through and then one day I was like nope, no more I can’t deal with it,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

Stemm, who then weighed more than 143kg, tried a program called The Healthy Mummy, which she discovered a day after deciding to end her marriage with her husband. “The moment I ended the marriage I felt a tonne of bricks was lifted off my shoulders and I saw life exactly how it was,” she said.

She committed to the program to complete her much-needed “overhaul” in her life and within the first five months into the program, she lost 20kg. As she went to continue with the program, she was able to lose a total of 66 kg; bringing her weight down to 77kg at present.

According to a report, the program made her stick with smaller meals and healthy snacks, which included a regular breakfast of poached egg, roast tomato, spinach and bacon, while lunch consisted of leftovers of a dinner usually made up of Mexican food, casserole, and Thai salads.

Apples, crackers, and cheese have also become her snacks; replacing her unhealthy snacks then. “I had no expectations when I started to be absolutely truthful and then just went on and started to really lose weight,” she shared.

And it’s something she is now so proud of!
