Brown rice is starting to gain popularity in the country, especially among those who are conscious about health and fitness.

Brown rice helps in weight loss because it contains more fiber than the more commonly known white rice.

According to Healthline, a cup of brown rice has 3.5 grams of fiber while white rice only has less than one gram. “Fiber helps keep you fuller over a longer period of time, so choosing fiber-rich foods may help you consume fewer calories overall,” Healthline explained.

They also cited a study that proves that women who consumed more whole grains weigh less than those who ate less whole grains.

“In one study, 40 overweight women who ate 2/3 cup (150 grams) of brown rice per day for six weeks had significant reductions in body weight and waist circumference compared to women who ate the same amount of white rice,” they added.

Brown rice is also healthier because it still has the bran, the outer layer filled with fiber and germ, the core full of nutrients. These are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

It is also filled with manganese, which plays an important role in “bone development, w0und healing, muscle contraction metabolism, nerve function, and bl0od sugar regulation.”
