According to Web MD, “Pain management is important for ongoing pain control, especially if you suffer with long-term or chronic pain.”

These may not be your typical comfort food like ice cream or chocolate, but these can truly help ease your pain:

*Ginger – This pungent root can also fight pain, including aching joints from arthritis and menstrual cramps.

*Mint – Peppermint oil relieves the painful cramps, gas, and bloating that are the hallmarks of irritable bowel syndrome. Moreover, Brazilian mint tea (made from the plant Hyptnis crenata) has also been as effective as a prescription painkiller.

*Blueberry – These have a lot of phytonutrients that may fight inflammation and lessen pain. If it’s not berry season, frozen blueberries can have the same or even more nutrients than fresh.

*Brown rice – Brown rice and other whole grains containing fiber can help fight inflammation; as fiber helps lower c-reactive protein, a substance found in the blood produced by the liver in response to inflammation.

*Olive oil – Researchers found that a chemical in extra-virgin olive oil, oleocanthal, inhibits inflammatory enzymes in the same way that ibuprofen does.

*Apple  – It helps reduce inflammation because it has quercetin; an anti-inflammatory antioxidant.

*Oily fish – Salmon, trout, and anchovies, along with walnuts, linseeds, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, and canola oil contain omega-3 fatty acids that make them anti-inflammatory.
